One when thinks of snacks or small eats, there are many popular items such as J Co, Dunkin Donuts and others which serves some form of pastries or doughs. Thus, here at Kurtos Spiroll, they also serve a kind of dough which is aptly called chimney cakes of Kurtos Kalacs which is a traditional cake from Hungary. The reason its called chimney cakes is because of it shape and when its removed from the oven, the hot steam is akin to the smoke from the chimney! The Kurtos is sweet and crispy in its original form but here, one can also choose to have different coatings for their Kurtos.
Its also very reasonably priced and its definitely something unique and different compared to your local doughnut shop. As far as I'm aware, this is the first such outlet in Malaysia and thus, Penangites are a lucky bunch to be able to savour this delicacy first.

This is the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chips which is really good for those that loves peanut butter! As the peanut butter melts, its able to stick the chocolate chips to it. In the background is another favorite which is the Nutella Walnut. The Walnuts are roasted by the shop themselves and as its slightly salted, it gives the Kurtos a very well balanced taste, rather than just being sweet!
These are the best sellers, from left, Original, Sunflower Seed, Cinnamon and Nutella Walnut!
In the second row from left, Premium Chicken Floss, Peanut Butter with Chocolate Chips and Chocolate Rice. On the last row, Sesame Seeds and then Hawaiian Coconut.
Overall, I find that this is a much healthier snack compared to a donut as it doesn't involve frying in oil and its really crispy when its hot which makes it delicious! Do try them out
