There are an abundant of places in Taipei to walkabout but one that I find really enjoyable is a place called Yongkang Street located at Daan District. Just get off the yellow line MRT at Dongmen station exit 5 and its just less than 50m away.
As one exits the station, Im sure you will notice a shop that has an abundant of people forever queing up! That shop is non other than the famous Din Tai Fung! It also happens to be the first shop in this famous eateary and its very popular with tourists! To me, unless you really want to put a checkmark saying you have visited, then my suggestions to skip it.
The view of Taipei 101 as you exit the MRT
Yongkang Street is the first lane on the right
Its a busy street but there are pedestrian lanes. But still watch out for the cars and bikes zipping by.
The cobbled streets, nah... interesting manhole though
This is the latest store of the famous Yongkang Super Mango Snowflake Ice!
After queing for like 15 minutes, this is the result. This is the one with mango sorbet. It costs twd180 and its really yummy. The snowflakes were really smooth but not overly sweet. There is two version for takeaway. One is as beloe while another version is more like a bowl with a cover. I would say its best to eat at the shop or while you are walking as the snowflake melts quickly.
A view of the shop
Various shops along the street
One of the many alleys around here. Scooters everywhere
As the sun begins to set casting a golden hue
Even though the place is full of people but the traffic continues. Do keep an eye out for cars and bikes
Just so many shops to explore
Its like the building is glowing
Wife said this shop famous for yam
Another side street
Apparently one of the food attractions here is roti canai/prata. Well Taiwanese style in which they put spring onion. This one has the option for egg and also basil leaves.
The crowd waiting anxiously. The cooks have no time to stop
Overall, one of the place I highly recommend to checkout while in Taipei
